ショッカー の怪人
Enemy Group Kaijin
The Kaijin (literally, "Strange/Mysterious Person") of Shocker are almost all based on animals and plants, with a few oddities
thrown in here and there Many of the Shocker Kaijin have names that play on the animal/plant/whatever they are based on, and a
few are simply "Whatever-Man" or "Animal Name Here-Woman", like Kumo-Otoko & Hachi-Onna. Like Kamen Rider, they
are Kaizô-Ningen, reconstructed humans using organic and synthetic elements. While the costumes are simple by today's
standards, the Shocker Kaijin possess a lot of personality, and each one is memorable in their own way thanks to the enthusiasm
of the stunt men playing them, the voice actors giving them their trademark sound effects and vocals, and the writers giving them a
major bad attitude towards anyone who messes with them. Brief profiles are above, with more in-depth details below.

In-depth Details
►Kumo-Otoko
The very first Shocker Kaijin. Without him, there would be no Kamen Rider franchise, because he gets Hongô mixed up in the
whole thing to begin with. Spits poison darts from his mouth that dissolves victims entirely, can control constricting webbing and
Mini Spy Spider 'bots. Also possesses spider-like speed and agility, not unlike a certain other Friendly Neighborhood Spider-
Man.
►Kômori-Otoko
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Batman! Also known as just Ningen Kômori in his first appearance. He flies of course, and has a
nasty bite that delivers the "Kômori Virus", which turns people into vampires. The antidote is in the claws on his wings. Sets the
standard for which all later Bat-type Kaijin would follow, namely in loving fresh blood, hating sunlight, and generally creeping
everyone out. In some scenes he sports actual hands along with his wings, while in others he just has the bat-claws seen here.
►Sasori-Otoko
Is...was Hongô's best bud and rival from his school days, Hayase Goro. Hayase sold out to Shocker because secretly, he was
jealous of Hongô (who wouldn't be– the guy has an IQ of 600, is surrounded by cute girls wherever he goes and has a cool
transforming motorcycle) and thus, wanted revenge. Controls an army of smaller scorpions that spray a corrosive acid, can
assume his human form on command and is able to move in what amounts to reverse-motion (along with his battalion of
henchmen.)
►Sarasenian
Able to travel through soil like it were water, popping up to capture unsuspecting victims at will. Uses constricting vine-whips, and
has a very nasty grip. Also known simply as Sarasenia-Ningen. Bear-hugs a dude to death at one point. The in-suit actor for
Sarasenian is none other than Nakamura Bunya, who would later go on to play, among other roles, Kamen Rider V3's Marshal
Armor. Has the honor of being brought back in episode #27 to help teach kids how to shoot Kamen Rider!
►Kamakiri-Otoko
The starring villain of the very first Kamen Rider episode I ever saw, and despite the fact that you can clearly see the stunt guy's
wrist behind that rubber mantis claw, Kamakiri-Otoko is still one of my all-time favorites. An expert with a sickle (Gama) and
chain, and that rubber mantis claw can cut through its share of solid materials. A sneaky fella who uses one of Hongô's old friends
to trap him. As it will become apparent by the end of the series, Hongô has way too many old friends.
►Shinigami-Chameleon
The first two-episoder Kaijin, Shinigami-Chameleon is a tough customer. Able to turn invisible and teleport, but he can still be
attacked while invisible if his location is discovered. Expert at sword fighting. Uses his big long tongue as a weapon! Interestingly,
Chameleon's voice is different in the first part of episode #6, before changing to the familiar vocals of Sawa Ritsuo halfway
through.
►Hachi-Onna
Regardless of the simplicity of the costume, many fans argue Hachi-Onna is one of the best female Kaijin to date, in addition to
being the first. It should be noted she wears white boots as opposed to the usual black, and in her original appearance sports a
yellow sash instead of the regular Shocker Belt Buckle of Honor (which she does have in later publicity stills). Highly skilled in
fencing, and her sword has this nifty pop-out hypnotic/knockout thing. Controls people via mind control.
►Cobra-Otoko
Nasty, nasty dude. His extendo-snake arm bite melts people, though without the required special detachable fangs it can't work.
Sure enough, when the detachable fangs are knocked out during a fight with a guard dog, Cobra-Otoko here is not a happy
camper. Also able to travel through the ground ala Sarasenian. Battles Rider 1 to the death on the famous Sarushima (Monkey
Island), which I've actually been to. Hurray for me!
►Cobra-Otoko (Reconstructed)
Despite going boom last episode, Shocker revives the cobra guy for another round, adding a cool extendable headpiece/hood as
well as fire-breathing powers. And don't get on the Shocker Leader's bad side: he has ol' snake eyes roast evil guest Shocker
scientist and world-reknowned biologist Ayokôji Ritsuko (who was brought in to help revive him) just because he can't find any
other good reasons to keep her around. Brutal!
►Gebacondor
Created solely for the purpose of kicking Kamen Rider's butt. Powered by the blood of unmarried young women, the original
Condorman can fly like the bird of his namesake and teleport out of the way of the Rider Kick, so our hero must improvise.
Exactly how Shocker's scientists were able to make a connection between unmarried virgins and a teleporting condor-human's
energy source is beyond me, but remember, these guys are really smart. Also has the honor of being brought back in episode #27
to help teach kids how to shoot Kamen Rider!
►Yamogeras
Creepy little guy who can cling to just about anything via suction cup fingers, and sprays white gunk from his mouth that solidifies
and encases victims. Goes trigger-happy with the "Dangerlight Ray" prototype energy gun, which turns everything into skeletons,
or at least deflating balloons that look like skeletons. I dunno, but it's cool.
►Tokageron
Seeing as how their entire revived Kaijin army (all the above folks) is unable to bust into this super-secure atomic research lab
place, Shocker kidnaps a star soccer player with a seriously bad attitude, Nomoto Ken, and turns him into the lizard man
Tokageron to getthe job done. Slow-moving but very powerful, and his kicks can send everything from boulders to the "Barrier
Destroyer Ball" zooming across the play field. Has his own unique, named move, the "Hissatsu Shoot."
